What languages can you use with Unreal engine?
Unreal Engine uses the text-based programming language, C++. In addition, Unreal Engine uses visual scripting called Blueprints which utilizes a faster programming option via drag-and-drop. (More info on Blueprints and C++ below.)
Can you use Unreal Engine with Python?
Unreal uses Python 3.7. 7 by default because it is an important part of the current VFX Reference Platform. The engine still supports Python 2.7, but you will need to change the version in the engine to use it.

It depends on what you’re trying to do. At present (UE 4.21), Python is supported in editor, but cannot be used at runtime in a game, so you would not be able to use it as a substitute for Blueprint or runtime C++.
Where can I find scripting utilities in Python?
In the Plugins window, go to the Scripting section. Find the Python Editor Script Plugin in the right-hand panel, and check its Enabled box.
